Lion of the Tribe of Judah
The term " Lion of the Tribe of Judah" alludes to the prophecy of Jacob recorded in Gen 49:10 "The scepter will not depart from Yehudah, Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes. To him will the obedience of the peoples be." One other prophetic reference is recorded in Rev 5:5 as follows: "One of the Zakenim (elders) said to me, "Don't weep. Behold, the Lion who is of the tribe of Yehudah, the Root of David, has overcome to open the book and its seven seals." This magnificent lion was originally painted in acrylic on paper by Charles Timothy Prutzer (pictured right), the culmination of over 20 years of artistic observation both in captivity and in the wilds of Africa. It is a dramatic and interpretive representation of the King of kings and Lord of lords as symbolically portrayed in G-d's word.
